Mom and the Bird

Just a quick glimpse of my mom at the Newport Aquarium. I don't know why they have birds at the aquarium, they just do. I don't think mom really wanted to feed the birds, but she couldn't hand the cup of food off to anyone in our family...especially Danny who had just gotten pooped on!

Brad Graduated!

My Little boy is growing up. He is now an official first grader! He graduated from part time kindergarten on June 8Th and will enter the full time world of first grade next year. He has learned so much this year. He is reading up a storm! As part of our summer vacation, the teachers want to make sure he does not slide backwards during the Summer. We have 4 different workbooks and 2 pamphlets to complete as well as at least 2 reading challenges. We were sent home a huge backpack with a bunch of school stuff to practice over the summer. If he completes it all he gets prizes at the beginning of school. I think we are going to have a very busy summer. Here he is in his graduated attire with his "BFF" Cole

Lyndsey Graduated!

Okay, it is only from preschool 3's (Which is different that the preschool 4"s which she will be in next year). But she made it through her first official year of school. She made some great friends and got to learn a bunch of cool stuff. She can now write her name and all of our names. She can sing the alphabet most of the time and count to 8 in Spanish. She can count almost all the way up to 20! She has also learned that you wear gym shoes to school, mom gets to pick out school clothes, flip flops are not appropriate and even though other kids wear dresses, doesn't mean you have to. She passed with flying colors and got a G+ (the highest grade you can get) for good self awareness! Here she is with her teacher, Mrs. Stewart and her diploma.

Our new swingset

It only took one and a half years and 3 months to finish our swingset. We knew we would be in for a lot of work, because our yard is not flat. We had to bring the back end of the yard up 14 inches! After what seems like an eternity, it is done and the kids love it. They can both swing all by themselves now!

Ballerina

Well, another season of dance is over. Every week for 9 months we went to dance class preparing for the big recital. It is held downtown at Vets Memorial Auditorium. It takes place in 3 different session, a noon show, a 3:00 and a 5:00 on Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend. Hundreds of little (and bigger) girls gather with their hair done tightly in a bun, extra makeup applied so they don't look washed out ready to show off what they learn. Mom's and Grandma's sit in the audience performing with the child they helped (because we know it all my heart now) hoping that their little girl up on stage does something, anything, but stand there. Lyndsey pulled through! She danced the entire time...I can't necessarily say it was the right move, but as you can see from the picture, if she is not right, she is pretty close. (She is second from the right in the back row). We are so proud of her! I am still trying to figure out how to get the video online)
