Hut Hut Hut

Brad started flag football this year and Bill is the assistant coach. This is a picture of his first game. He did a great job, got to play a lot of positions, got a couple of flags and got to throw the ball. We tried to get on a friend's team, who happen to be the Badgers, but he somehow they didn't get on the same team.So we were interested to see what team Brad would be on, seeing that all the teams are named after college teams. When we found out what team we were on, Bill was going to ask for a trade! We just call it the Blue team! (he is on the gators, arch enemy of Georgia, and now Ohio State)

The Tooth Fairy Cometh

Brad lost both of his bottom front teeth last year in kindergarten, ironically enough, while he was at the dentist. I thought the rest would all go smoothly from here on out. His two front teeth on top got loose and I thought it would be a matter of a couple of weeks before they came out. Flash forward 3 months...and here we are today. It only took one trip to the school nurse, a fall in the cafeteria at school, a $5 bribe from mom, multiple threats with door handles, dental floss and Danny's truck (aren't trucks supposed to be good for pulling things out), a promise that we would not let the tooth fairy into his room (we would leave it on the front step) and reports from his friends that his tooth was bleeding on the bus for the tooth to fall out. Breath a sigh of relief....ahhh, then he tells me he has two more loose!

Bend it Like Beckham

Okay, maybe not, since I hear he is out for the season! This is a picture of Lyndsey after her first soccer game! She did great. I will have to wait until we have more family spectators before I get action shots because I was too busy coaching! In her own words, her favorite part was "playing with her teammates."

Lyndsey's First Day of School

Lyndsey Started her first day of Preschool, I'm sorry, PRE K last week (I keep getting corrected). She is going 2 full days a week this year. Which means she has to eat lunch at school. Upon making her lunch she asked for apples. This is not an unusual request, however, I usually have to peel them or she will meticulously eat them like an orange and skip the peeling. Then she says to me, "Mommy, did you know that apple peels make your hair straight?" Now, I must admit, I did not know this fact, which is why my hair is still curly, but her dad and brother, who, of course, have straight hair, enlightened her with this knowledge. She has been eating apple with peels all week! So she comes home from her first day of school and shares what she has done. She tells me that her teacher said she was the best nap taker in the class, that she wants to be a book drawer (illustrator) when she grows up and that her little friend Caley said she loved her. When asked why Caley said she loved her, she said it was because her hair is so straight! I admit, I do not know what to do in this predicament. So far I have bought lots of apples, encouraged her to write more books and draw pictures for them, congratulated her for being the best nap taker and I think Santa will be bringing her a mirror from Christmas!

Brad's A First Grader!

Brad started First grade. It was a little rocky walking to the bus stop, but he came home that day (picture above) in a good mood and has been doing great. I am not really sure what the teacher has been saying, but he is like a changed boy. Last year he wouldn't even think about buying lunch unless I was with him. This year, he actually ASKED to buy hot lunch on the third day and has been buying off and on all week (of course only if there is something he likes). He has been taking his time doing his homework, instead of scribbling to get it done and as of yet, I haven't had to argue with him to get ready in the morning! He came up to me one evening and even asked me if we could "organize" his clothes in his drawers, because they were too messy! And this morning I found Lyndsey and Brad CLEANING the playroom and the bathroom!

Olentangy Indian Caverns

Mom to Brad and Lyndsey to the Indian Caverns. This was the kids first time to be in a cave, and from all the rest of the pictures, Lyndsey was not at all happy to be in the cave while she was there. This is the only picture mom got where the kids look like they were having fun. They both reported to me that they had fun. Picture by Lynda VonderBrink
